WHAT MUSIC WILL BE PERFORMED AT PORCHFEST?
We have bands and solo artists of all ages and abilities who will be performing various genres including folk, jazz, rock, blues, reggae, R&B, rap, bluegrass, pop and others!
WHEN IS SOUTH BUFFALO PORCHFEST?
The event will take place on Saturday June 29th, 2024 from Noon-5pm.
HOW DO I SIGN UP TO PLAY OR HOST?
If you are a band, click the “I have a band” link on our site and complete the registration form. The festival will assign you to a porch if you do not already have an address to play
If you are a porch host, click the “I have a porch” link on our site and complete the registration form. The festival will pair you with a band if you do not already have one lined up!
Please note that bands will play 1 hour sets, and the festival will assign the set time in order to make sure there are no conflicts with other porches and bands.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
Porchfest will take place rain or shine so plan ahead and dress appropriately. All porch hosts will be required to either have a covered porch or provide the band with a canopy or some other protection from the elements.
CAN I HAVE MY BAND START EARLY OR PLAY LATER THAN THE SCHEDULED TIMES?
Due to the number of bands and porches that participate it is essential that bands adhere to their assigned set times. This allows us to avoid conflicts with bands playing into each other from nearby porches, and also allows us the flexibility to get bands from one porch to another if they are playing multiple locations.
WHERE CAN I PURCHASE A PORCHFEST T-SHIRT?
Festival t-shirts can be purchased at the South Buffalo Roots tent located at the corner of McKinley and Coolidge on the day of the event (while supplies last).
I DON'T KNOW ANY BANDS, CAN I STILL BE A HOST?
Yes! We have plenty of bands that will be in need of a porch host. We are happy to match you up with one of our artists!
I DON’T HAVE A PORCH, CAN I STILL HOST?
If you have an outdoor area that has easy access to a power supply, you can host! Some examples of some signups we’ve hadin the past include driveways, yards, balconies and garages. Even if your space isn’t that big, please note that in your signup – we can hook you up with some solo acts or acoustic duos.
Please note that this event is rain or shine, so you will need to provide a tent/canopy or some other cover if you porch is not covered.
We also ask that the location be visible to the general public who may be walking by.
DO THE MUSICIANS GET PAID?
No one does. Our event is dependent on volunteers. Organizers, performers, porch hosts, and others all participate as volunteers and all give freely of their time, talents, resources, and hospitality as a gift to the neighborhood and to each other.
Musicians are free to put out a tip jar or sell their music and merch.
IS THERE A MAP OR A SCHEDULE?
The map of porches and schedule will be posted on our website a week or two prior to the event (once registration closes and is final).
